Fabric Care

Here you'll find all the ways in which we recommend you care for your new fabric! We strongly suggest pre-washing your fabric before you begin your project for potential shrinkage. From there, visit this page for tips on how to continue caring for your finished garment.

Cotton
Machine wash using regular detergent in cold water to minimise shrinkage. If tumble drying, put on a short cycle or remove before the cycle is finished to avoid wrinkling. Iron on hot.

Linen
Linen can be hand or machine washed in warm water. If hand washing, gently pull into shape during the process. If machine washing, use a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. If tumble drying, use a low heat and remove while still damp, alternatively line dry or dry flat. Iron inside out on hot.

Silk
Ideally, hand wash your silk garments using a silk soap in lukewarm water, or dry clean if very precious. If machine washing, use a mesh bag and a delicate cycle with mild detergent. Do not tumble dry. Roll in a a towel to gently press out excess moisture, then hang or lay flat to dry. Iron on low.

Merino
Turn inside-out before washing. Machine wash on a wool or gentle cycle in cold water using a mild or wool detergent to avoid soap clinging to the fibres. Dry flat, or roll in a towel before hanging to avoid weighing it out of shape. Do not tumble dry. If necessary to iron, use a medium heat on the reverse.

Viscose
Viscose is very delicate when wet. Ideally, hand wash in cool or lukewarm water. Alternatively, machine wash on delicate in a mesh bag. In order to keep shape, do not wring or twist. Dry flat, do not tumble dry. Iron on a silk setting, on the reverse side while still damp.

Polyester
Cold or warm machine wash your garment inside-out. Avoid tumble drying on a high heat to prevent shrinkage. Polyester generally doesn't wrinkle, however iron on low if needed.

Wool
If machine washing, wash on a cold wool or delicate cycle with a mild detergent. Flat drying is preferred. If your wool garment has a pile, dry cleaning is recommended. Iron on reverse side on warm while slightly damp.

Nylon
Machine wash in cool water on a standard cycle. Never use bleach. If tumble drying, remove as soon as the cycle has finished. If ironing is necessary, use a warm setting. Shower and waterproof garments, or garments with a coating may be wiped clean.

Elastane Blends
Avoid hot washing, cool only. Hang to dry, do not tumble dry as this can pucker the spandex fibres in your stretch garment. Iron on warm.
